Horizon’s Team

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

We just had our first “Horizon’s Team” meeting.  There were 7 people in attendance–Denise Peltier, Kevin Cederstrom, Victoria McWane-Creek, Connie Warner, Lynn Kasma, Pat Fredley, and Julie Adams.  We met with Donna Rae to organize our Horizon’s Team Action Plan.  We discussed the structure, decision-making process, communication systems, monitoring and evaluation, and sustainability of our Horizon’s Team.  Donna Rae will then take what we brainstormed and organize it into a rough draft of our Action Plan.  We will meet again on Thursday, December 13, 12:30 pm, at the Eagles Cafe to finalize the Action Plan.  Good job everyone!  We are certainly moving forward!

Leadership Future Squad

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Just to go along with what Victoria posted, I would like to invite everyone to participate in the newly formed “Leadership Future Squad”.  We plan to meet on Wednesday, November 28, 5:15 pm, in the HS Media Center.

It is now our charge to focus on the issues pertaining to leadership as identified in the NYM vision, to create an action plan to address the issues, and to gather information & resources to accomplish the plans.

If you have any questions about the Leadership Future Squad, please contact Michelle at 385-2703, Denise at 385-2611, or Julie at 385-2436.  We hope that you can help us out with this!

Future Squads Established!

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Last night 20 community members got together to decide how to work towards the Vision that was created on Oct 27.  After some lively discussion and debate on how to organize the elements within the Vision, 4 Teams or Squads were developed to address action issues.

1. Economy - Agriculture, Entrepreneurship and Established Business support

2. Volunteerism - Unifying current volunteer efforts,   engaging more volunteers from the young and the young at heart, and mentoring

3. Leadership - Locating, training and mentoring visionary leaders for NYM’s future

4. Quality of Life - Outdoor Rec, Culture and Arts and other issues impacting quality of life

Any of these 4 areas spark your interest?  If so, join in you can play a vital role in creating the plan that makes the NYM Vision a reality.  So choose a Squad and get active!  Stay tuned for Future Squad meeting details.
